Cubital Tunnel Release and Ulnar Nerve Transposition

Cubital Tunnel Release and Ulnar Nerve Transposition in Wayne & Paramus, NJ

A surgical release of the ulnar nerve within the cubital tunnel.

What are Cubital Tunnel Release and Ulnar Nerve Transposition?
These are surgical procedures designed to alleviate the symptoms of Cubital Tunnel Syndrome. This syndrome occurs when the ulnar nerve, which runs through your elbow and into your hand, is compressed or irritated.

Why Is This Surgery Performed?
We consider this surgery for patients who have persistent symptoms of Cubital Tunnel Syndrome, such as numbness, tingling, and weakness in the arm and hand, despite trying conservative treatments. The goal is to relieve the pressure on the ulnar nerve and improve your hand function and comfort.

Understanding the Surgical Procedures:

Cubital Tunnel Release: This involves decompressing the ulnar nerve within the cubital tunnel, a tight space in your elbow where the nerve is prone to compression.
Ulnar Nerve Transposition: Sometimes, along with the release, we may perform an ulnar nerve transposition. This means we may move the nerve to a new position where it’s less likely to be compressed.

The Surgical Experience:

  • The surgery is performed with an incision over the inside of the elbow.
  • Our team uses state-of-the-art techniques to ensure precision and safety.
  • Post-surgery, we place your arm in a soft dressing to support healing.

Recovery Journey:

The initial recovery period is typically two to three weeks, allowing the incision to fully heal.
We encourage a gradual return to your daily activities, based on your comfort and healing progress.
If the nerve compression was severe, it may take several months to a year for sensation to fully recover. Our team will be with you every step of the way, providing guidance and support.

Your Health and Comfort are Our Priority
We understand that the decision to undergo surgery is significant. Our dedicated team is committed to providing comprehensive care, from your initial consultation through your recovery journey. We tailor our approach to meet your individual needs and ensure the best possible outcome.
